Tottenham and Arsenal fans agree on one thing during Carabao Cup semi final

Tottenham and Arsenal fans agree on one thing during Carabao Cup semi final

Tottenham come off second best

Tottenham came off decidedly second best in the first leg of their Carabao Cup semi-final against Chelsea this evening.

Starting slowly, the Lilywhites found themselves a goal behind early courtesy of Kai Havertz, who benefitted after Marcos Alonso pounced upon a loose pass from Japhet Tanganga.

And things went from bad to worse, as Tanganga then headed a freekick against Ben Davies and past Hugo Lloris, doubling the Chelsea lead, on the half hour mark.

Tottenham improved in the second half, but still conceded more chances than they made, and only some wasteful Chelsea finishing has kept them in the tie heading into the second leg next Wednesday.

And in defeat, one player took particular stick from fans of London clubs.

And, in an altogether rare moment, Arsenal and Tottenham fans came to an agreement. Unfortunately for Spurs fans, it was over one of their own players, with the Lilywhite faithful taking to social media in their droves to question the signing of Emerson Royal at right back after another sub-par performance.

Arsenal fans, meanwhile, were quick to praise their own recruitment for choosing Tomiyasu over the Brazilian on deadline day.

Can he turn his fledgeling Tottenham career around before it’s too late, or will the Gunners have the last laugh?
