Sanjay Raut asks rebel MLAs to come to Mumbai, says will consider quitting Congress-NCP alliance

Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Thursday asked rebel MLAs, who are with minister Eknath Shinde in Guwahati, to return to Mumbai and talk to Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. He assured them that the Shiv Sena will consider their demand to exit the alliance with the Congress and the Nationalist Congress Party.

Shinde, who is leading a revolt against Thackeray, has demanded that the Shiv Sena should quit the ruling alliance.

Raut’s comments came after only 13 MLAs were present at a meeting called by Thackeray.

Earlier in the day, Raut claimed that 20 MLAs, who are with Shinde, are in touch with the party.

On Wednesday, Thackeray said that he would resign even if one of his party MLAs demands so, but questioned whether the rebel MLAs could promise him that the next chief minister would be a Shiv Sena member.
